WINE TRAVELERS’ SCHOOL
“It is profitable both to the mind and the body to taste wine in its home,
in the country which gave it all it possesses.
What surprises a carefully thought out pilgrimage has in store for you!”
Our Wine Travelers’ School is a new and exciting way to learn about wine at the source.
Your journey with us is not through a textbook or in a classroom, but on site, in real time. You
will meet the winemakers, smell the earth and the vines, taste in cellars, learn from dedicated
trained enthusiasts. A journey of a week will give you the passion and confidence to last a lifetime.
John Sherwin lives in France and is the founder of French Wine Tours. Trained at L’Universite

This is a unique opportunity to learn about wine from the ground up. We take you to the heart of where wine is made with
real passion and tradition. What better way to learn and taste than in the heart of superb wine country with the growers and
winemakers themselves. This special tour takes us to the beautiful Medoc region where the tradition and passion of
winemaking will be revealed.
Day One: You will arrive at Bordeaux where you will be met by your wine expert and escorted to your luxury accomodation in
air-conditioned transport. Chateau Cap Leon Veyron - (Listrac, Medoc, Bordeaux) -The wine expert will be with you to
ensure a smooth check-in. You will have to time to relax and enjoy the Chateau before our welcome dinner. After dinner,
there will be a brief introduction to what awaits you.
Day Two: Following breakfast there will be the first lesson in wine tasting- without wine! You will be smelling aromas and
asked to identify them. This is the perfect time of day for this exercise, as your sensory appartaus has woken up and is
working at its maximum. We will then have our first vineyard visit with the winemaker on his own territory. Don't worry- the
guide will always be there with you. Lunch will follow which has been pre-arranged at a local bistro. We then have our
second vineyard visit. Return to the Chateau where before dinner there will be a discussion on glassware and etiquette.
Dinner tonight is on your own.
Day Three: After breakfast, we will have a session on the process of wine-tasting, bringing together some of the notions
which you have already garnered. We leave for our first vineyard visit of the day. After lunch we will have the second
vineyard visit. We return to the Chateau where after dinner will be a practical lesson in how to present, open and pour wine
in the most appropriate manner.
Day Four: After breakfast this morning will be a re-testing of your smelling skills! A session on the history of wine precedes
your first vineyard visit of the day. Lunch will be followed by your second vineyard visit. Once back at the Chateau, we will
have a friendly tasting competition with all the wines you have tasted over the last few days. Plus there will be some other
friendly competitions- all in 'l'esprit du vin'! Your last dinner will be on us.
Day Five: After breakfast, checkout of Chateau. We will have a final wrap-up with questions and answers if requested. We
will then escort you back to the airport (with time to take in some sites) before your departure back home.
Wine Travellers School will be creating more itineraries and trips throughout Europe, the Far East and America.
