The blockbuster 1990 Barbaresco-Santo Stefano-Riserva (red label) exhibits a profound nose of sweet fruit, smoked
meats, spice, and fruitcake-like scents. Exceptionally deep, concentrated, and full-bodied, with wonderful richness, as well
as a layered, concentrated texture, this moderately tannic wine should be at its best by the late nineties and last through
the first two decades of the next century. If Giacosa is correct and this wine turns out to be a modern day clone of the 1971,
expect this wine to merit a three digit point score circa 2005

Willamette Valley Vineyards “Whole Clusters” Oregon
Vibrant and explosive aromas of bananas, cherries, and strawberries dominate with aromas of sweet juice and warm spices.
Flavors mirror aromas with banana, strawberries, and cherries dominating with juicy and spicy characters. The mouth feel is
soft, round, juicy and well-balanced with fresh acidity which highlights the fruitiness.
Joseph Drouhin “La Foret” France
Grapes are selected from different vineyards, generally from the Côte de Beaune. They are handpicked and then brought
to the Drouhin cellars "en Chavet", on the outskirts of Beaune. The hue usually has a brillant ruby-garnet colour. The nose
offers effusive aromas of crushed berries (raspberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant come to mind). On the palate, the wine is
full of charm and very pleasant to drink.
Cambria “Julias Vineyard” Santa Maria Valley, California
Julia’s Vineyard is located on the cooler, western end of the Cambria Estate. Named after the owner’s youngest daughter,
all fruit from Julia’s Vineyard is estate grown and reflects the quality of Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Bench in Northern
Santa Barbara County. This wine has ripe cherry, grape, and strawberry flavors. Cinnamon spice, under-lying earth tones,
and a round mid-palate lead into the finish.
Robert Mondavi, Carneros, California
This wine is hand harvested with co-fermentation of different Pinot Noir clones for flavor complexity. This Pinot Noir has
intriguing dark fruit characteristics, with complex rose spice and cedar nuances. Its exquisite texture and supple tannins are
a complement to its smoky, toasty oak lingering finish.
